LaShawn Douglas

LaShawn joined CMRignite in 2023 as an Account Director, where she manages the Housing and Finance Accounts within the Social Impact Pod. In this position, she spearheads strategic communications initiatives for clients including Northwestern Mutual, HUD, and FHFA. With a robust background in communications since 2009, LaShawn specializes in strategic and crisis communications, stakeholder engagement, and the creation of impactful public information campaigns within the Housing and Finance sectors. Before joining CMRignite, LaShawn was the Director of Stakeholder Engagement & Outreach at the District of Columbia Housing Authority (DCHA), where she established this new division. In this capacity, she provided expert guidance to executive leadership, oversaw the agency’s communication strategies, and led a team of outreach specialists. She developed comprehensive marketing and communications strategies, focusing on media relations, public relations, crisis communications, and issue management.

LaShawn also has almost a decade of experience in the public sector, where she held various senior management roles at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), directing strategic communications efforts for the Office of Housing and Field Policy & Management. Her responsibilities included advising and training senior leaders, coordinating media relations with the Office of Public Affairs, and leading national public relations campaigns.
