Using Social Listening to Combat Misinformation/Disinformation About Election Fraud and Other Pressing Issues of the Day

Social listening and digital engagement are powerful tools. By monitoring real-time conversations, discussions, and trending content on social networking platforms and digital media, we can identify insights, opportunities, and emerging issues. For example, election officials ensure that the voting process is fair, secure, and accessible to all voters. Protecting the integrity of elections is complex and requires careful communications planning, especially with the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and deepfakes on social media. This panel will discuss the role that social listening can play in hot button issues like elections and other pressing topics for which mis/disinformation hinders decision-making (e.g., vaccine hesitancy, noncompliance with health screenings) and in how social listening insights inform the development of communications, marketing, and outreach strategies.
